If you didn’t make the March meeting you missed Robbie Tobeck from Griffin McClean speak on Marine Insurance and Lori Green speak on Scotty Downrigger maintenance.
This Month the State President of Puget Sound Anglers Ron Gardner will be here to speak on Halibut fishing. Ron gives a great presentation and its well worth attending. We will also be reviewing the upcoming salmon seasons with reports from our club representatives Art Tachell who covered Puget Sound and our Vise President Dave Johnson who attend the costal fishery. See when and where we will be fishing this summer.
Our membership chairman Pete Pitman reports were up to 114 members and growing. The membership drawing, sponsored by Southwest Marine was for $150 and member Darren Rose who was not present missed out. This month the drawing will be $260.
The club purchased a new speaker sound system and it really improved the quality of the meeting last month. We will continue to make improvements as needed. If you have a great idea stop by the GHPSA board meeting on 4 April at Ben Dew’s Clubhouse Grill, 6501 6th Ave in Tacoma. It starts at 6PM and doesn’t last longer then an hour. All members are welcome. My new policy is all club business is handled at this meeting and not at the general meeting.
Blackmouth season closes the middle of this month. I encourage all our members to get out and enjoy one of the best winter seasons I have seen in years. All the northern areas Port Townsend, the Straits especially the banks having been producing fish. I would look at Marine Areas 9 and 6 or make a trip out to Sekiu. All these areas have been great blackmouth fishing.
Keep in touch with all the happening at your club on our web page gigharborpsa.org and signup for our Facebook page. We will keep putting all latest club information and news on outings both of these.
Mike will be putting on another of his fantastic raffles with some nice items.
Once again the meeting starts at 7PM on 12 April but I encourage members to come early and shop at Bass Pro with your club discount or join us at 6PM in the Uncle Bucks restaurant for dinner and share fishing reports. If you’re looking for fishing tips on an upcoming season or a boat ride share this is when it happens, during the magic hour before the meeting.
See you all there.
