GIG HARBOR PUGET SOUND ANGLERS PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE June 2019
June’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Tower Lanes in Tacoma (6323 – 6th Avenue – Tacoma, WA 98406). Tommy Donlin will be our guest speaker for the meeting doing a presentation on “Ocean Salmon Fishing”. I would like to thank Wayne Harmond from NW Salmon Research for stepping in at the last minute and giving a presentation on their current Chinook research project that we are helping with at Narrows’s marina. They are raising 30k+ Chinook to be released in early June in conjunction with the Puyallup tribe, SAMI school district and our club.
Jeff Norwood member #156 was drawn for the membership drawing and was not present. June drawing will be for $260. Thanks to John Hager of Southworth Marine for his support. The drawing is open to all current, paid members and members must be present to win.
Our May 4th swap meet was very successful raising $600 for the club’s coffers. I would like to thank everyone who donated items or worked the swap meet.
There are numerous opportunities for members to volunteer to help with promoting the club at our events. We are starting to look for volunteers for the August Fishing Derby. We need a weigh-in chairman and volunteers for the weigh-in station at Pt. Defiance. We will also need volunteers for the food tent and general setup and cleanup support. Signup sheets will be available at the June meeting. All members who volunteer over the course of the year will have their names entered into a special drawing for a great prize at our Christmas party in December 2019.
