President’s Message for August 2017

GHPSA Presidents Message Aug 2017

The August meeting will be all about salmon fishing and the upcoming Gig Harbor Puget Sound Anglers 22 Annual Salmon Derby. The derby will take place on Saturday 12 August from daylight to 2 PM.

I will be hosting a pre-derby seminar at our Wednesday 9 August meeting that will cover where to fish in all the top areas in Area 11 & 13 and what techniques will work. I will also cover tides and where and when to fish to up your odds of catching a winning fish. We will also cover all the latest local fishing reports for the areas from our own club members. We have some great prices both for the top 10 places and as raffle prizes including a Lowrance Sonar/GPS unit. Derby tickets will be on sale during the meeting.

I have asked Mike to put on an extra special raffle for the August meeting.

Our new raffle for all club members who work an event.  If you volunteer to work at one of our support events, Bass Pro, Aug. Salmon Derby, Picnic or Christmas party your name will go in for a drawing for a guided fishing trip for two. If you already worked a Bass Pro or club event your name is in the raffle already. The drawing will be held at the Christmas party in Dec.

Speaking of Bass Pro, I need two volunteers to work Saturday 23 September at Bass Pro. You will have a table and be informing the visitors for Outfitters day all about Gig Harbor Puget Sound Anglers. If you’re interested in working this event see me at the Aug. meeting.

Doug Dixon pulled off a last minute save and hosted Cast for Kids event in July, a very grateful thank you for all who stepped up with their boats and supported the event by taking disabled children fishing. Thanks, Doug!

The Southworth Marine membership drawing will be $150.00. Yes, you need to be present to win!

Once again the meeting starts at 7 PM on 9 August but I encourage members to come early and join us at 6 PM in the Uncle Bucks restaurant for dinner and to share fishing reports.

See you all there.

John Keizer
